Age: 26
Your Location (where do you ride mostly): Petite Lake!
Weapon(s) of choice: Wakeboard
Email: mojo_boarder@hotmail.com
What’s an average day for you like?
Wake up, check out the water, and decide if I wanna ride morning, evening, or both! And work in
between.
What is the most difficult part of wakeboarding/wakeskating for a beginner? The easiest?
Most difficult: Learning proper body position on the board, and just slowing things down and
thinking. Easiest: Enjoying the day with a bunch of friends on the water! Don’t take it for granted!
How dangerous do u really think wakeboarding is compared to what people do in their regular
activities?
It’s only dangerous when you’re trying things you aren’t ready for. Otherwise, you’re probably gonna
be alright. Just be confident and let your swagger do the work. If you live in a bubble, you’re not
having much fun anyways.
I bet in your experience you have seen some crazy accidents. Describe one.
Hah. Yes. I saw my buddy rip his balls open on my rail. End of story.
What usually gets people hooked on wakeboarding/wakeskating?
The combination of the lifestyle and the sport. Not many sports have such a cool lifestyle to go
along with them.
What is your favorite trick?
Some kind of 720.
Do you own any other toys?
Lots of lawn mowers and trailers.
What gets you pumped up for the day?
Hot weather and some lil jon. YYEEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!
What are three things you could not live without?
My boat, living on the lake, and oxygen.
What are your expectations for this sport?
I expect wakeboarding to become more accessible through events and cable parks. Events open
up wakeboarding to people who otherwise wouldn’t have a chance to do it.
Who have been your biggest supporters in getting you to where you are now?
My sponsors – Ronix wakeboards, Axis boats, and everyone at the dealers. I also have to thank my
parents for instilling the ambition in me to work for and buy my first boat.
Who’s your favorite rider?
I really like Danny Harf as a rider and as a person. His riding is ridiculous and he treats the sport like
it’s his job, and it is. That’s how every pro rider should be.
What do you do in your spare time when you’re not riding?
You can catch me playing Madden on my XBox 360. I will destroy you AND I will use the Bears.
How about in the off season to stay in shape?
I have a pretty strict gym regimen. I am at Gold’s 5 or 6 days a week in the winter getting my swole
on.
What is your biggest goal to accomplish this season?
This season, I want to keep pushing myself. There’s a lot of new tricks I want to learn that I am on
the brink of landing. Besides that, I want to keep riding with new people as always, and show people
what wakeboarding is.
What do you do to practice for a competition? Or for Wake Wars, since you aren’t exactly on a large
body of water?
Before a contest, I usually just ride like I always do. I would rather feel like I’m having fun than like
a contest robot. Maybe do my contest run a few times during the week, but always making sure I’m
having fun.
What’s your favorite way to ride? Behind a boat, Cable, Winch?
Boat! Love chillin on Petite Lake even when I’m not riding.
Favorite conditions?
I like waterspouts and whirlpools combined with tsunamis. PERFECT.
Where would be your biggest dream to ride and why?
Howabout through the Chicago River… That would be pretty cool.
What song do you listen to while riding that puts you in the zone?
You know, a lil crunk.
What turned you on to wakeboarding?
My parents moved the family onto the lake when I was 12, and waterskiing didn’t do it for me, so I
got a wakeboard from Santa. Then it was on like Donkey Kong.
What’s the hardest thing about being a wakeboarder?
Hmmm… Probably paying for gas.
Any new tricks you’re working on?
I am trying to land this Moby Dick recently.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done wakeboarding?
Riding at the Chicago Air and Water Show was really cool. Not a lot of people have done that.
What other extreme sports are you into?
Yo-yos.
If extreme sports didn’t exist, what would you be doing with all the free time you’d have?
I would still be playing tennis for hours every day, trying to hit the ball hard enough so that it doesn’t
come back.
What’s your favorite board to ride and why?
Ronix One. Awesome board. Really smooth, has that clean pop that every rider wants.
What’s the trick to grinding rails and not killing yourself?
Not tensing up. Just be confident going into it and don’t second guess yourself.
How would you describe your riding style?
Effortless is what they tell me… Haha.
What would you say is your signature trick?
Toeside 7
Favorite drink choice to refresh yourself after a long day of riding?
Am I supposed to say Monster? Howabout my big protein shake?
What do you want to be when you grow up?
A fire hydrant.
